Quad Biking Tour Around the Sacred Valley (Moray and Salt Mines)
Discover an exciting adventure in the heart of the Sacred Valley with our ATV tour to Moray and the Maras Salt Mines, operated by Pacha Peru Explorers . This tour will not only take you to two of the most enigmatic and captivating destinations in the Sacred Valley, but will give you the experience of exploring them through the adrenaline and freedom of driving an ATV.
Moray is a unique archaeological center where the Inca culture perfected agricultural techniques through concentric terraces that simulate microclimates. You will be able to appreciate how these ancient agricultural circles reveal ancestral wisdom in crop management. Then, our trip continues to the Maras Salt Mines, an incredible natural and cultural work, where more than 3,000 salt pools have been worked by local families since pre-Inca times. Here, you will have the opportunity to learn about the artisanal salt extraction process and to acquire high-quality local products.
Short Itinerary
DAY 1: Cusco – Maras – Moray – Salineras.

This exciting adventure quad bike tour in the Sacred Valley; Maras, Moray and salt mines, begins just one hour from the city of Cusco.
To do this magnificent activity you don’t need much experience of riding, all our ATVs are automatic and semi-automatic, this allows you to appreciate the beautiful views and being in contact with nature.
We offer you 2 different routes where you will also have time to visit the archaeological site of Moray (optional), the Salineras (salt mines), also you can see the small town of Maras and the lakes around the route. we know, this will be the best adventure activity on a half day off in Cusco.
For this adventure tour, we have departure every day, and you can start in the morning (6:40am.) or in the afternoon (1:00 pm.)

06:30 am – Pick up at your accommodation
We begin the tour with a pick up from your accommodation in Cusco. Our professional guide will take you to the picturesque town of Cruzpata, on a tour of approximately 50 minutes through the majestic Sacred Valley of the Incas, where you will be able to appreciate impressive landscapes and ancient architecture.
08:00 am – Induction and preparation in Cruzpata
Upon arrival in Cruzpata, the Pacha Peru Explorers team will offer a briefing on safety, ATV handling and proper use of the equipment. Before leaving, we will practice basic maneuvers so that you feel comfortable and safe on the tour.
08:30 am – Start of the ATV tour to Moray
The adventure begins with a tour of approximately 1 hour one way to the archaeological site of Moray. During the journey, you will enjoy a unique experience on four wheels, exploring the surprising Andean landscapes. Upon arrival in Moray, you will be able to see the circular agricultural terraces, an agro-technological advance of the Incas designed for the diversification of crops at different altitudes and microclimates (20 minutes), then we will return to the base driving the ATVs for approximately 40 minutes return.
10:30 am – Continue to the Maras Salt Mines
Afterwards we will head by vehicle towards the impressive Maras Salt Mines, a road that guarantees safety in transit. In the Salt Mines, located at 3,380 meters above sea level (11,080 ft), you will have the opportunity to observe more than 3,000 pools of pink salt dug into the mountain, exploited in an artisanal way since the Inca era.
12:00 pm – 1:00 pm Return to Cusco
After living this fascinating experience in the Sacred Valley, we begin the return to Cusco. Our team will take you back to the city, with an estimated arrival around 1:00 to 1:30 pm at Plaza Regocijo.

All Pacha Peru Explorers guides have received specialized training in first aid. We hold mandatory training sessions with our guides every February. Your guide will always carry a first aid kit to face basic emergencies (altitude sickness, travelers’ diarrhea, cuts, scrapes, etc.) as well as oxygen. If necessary, we’ll evacuate you from the path as quickly as possible and ensure that you arrive at a clinic for treatment.
We have telephone service available 24 hours/day for ease of communication with Pacha Peru Explorers leading up to your experiences or trek.
Tipping is the norm on any excursion to Machu Picchu. Although we pay good salaries to our entire team, something extra is always welcome, especially considering the hard work they do. Typically, group participants collect their tips to hand out to the horsemen and chefs together.

1. I’m in Urubamba, can I do the Quad Biking Tour in the Sacred Valley from here?
Yes, absolutely. We organize tours from any part of the Sacred Valley. However, there is an extra cost for transportation.
2. Is it mandatory to visit Moray?
No, if you don’t want to visit this place, you can choose another route like the one to Laguna Huaypo and the Salineras; you won’t have to go to Moray.
3. What happens if I go on the route with Moray but don’t have a ticket?
You would have to wait outside the archaeological site for about 20 to 30 minutes until the rest of the group finishes their visit.
4. How much time do I have to visit Moray and the Salineras?
As this is an adventure tour, the visiting time at the archaeological sites is short, between 15 to 25 minutes.
5. Can I buy the tourist ticket at Moray and use it the next day to visit the rest of the Sacred Valley?
Yes, you can buy the ticket at the same place. This ticket is valid for 2 days, but they must be consecutive days.
6. Can I pay for the tickets in dollars?
Unfortunately, these places only accept soles. It’s better to bring the national currency.
